WHAT TO EXPECT ABOUT THE AYB SCHEDULE
I always get a lot of calls regarding practice and game schedules. The teams will be selected at a draft at the end of October. You should receive a call from your child's coach before the end of October. Practices begin the first week in November. Generally, practices are once per week, during the week days and beginning 6:00 p.m. or later. The exact day, time, and location is up to your child's coach. Also, during November only, we offer the teams an extra Sunday practice to get ready for the start of the season.
The season starts the first weekend in December. As in years past, we anticipate that the 3rd boys, 3 & 4 girls and 4th boys will be playing on Saturdays. All other leagues will play on Sunday at one of the high school gyms.
The game schedule will not come out until November so your team could be playing either in the morning or the afternoon.
The regular season will run through the end of February. The first weekend in March we will have playoffs and championships and the second weekend, allstar games.
In addition, this year, we are planning on something new and exciting - AYB's inaugural pre-season tournament to be held at Alameda Point during the evening of Saturday, November 14. We have reserved all of the courts at the Point and the idea is to have pre-season tournaments in each grade. Because of the cost of renting the facility for the evening, the League will have to charge all players attending a nominal entrance fee. There will be much more to come about this event.

Registration for Alameda Youth Basketball's girls third and fourth grade league is now open!
AYB is a great way for girls to learn how to play basketball and meet new friends from all over Alameda. Every girl who signs up will play on a team. The AYB rules are designed to make sure that every girl on a team plays in every game. We play on 8.5 feet high baskets and there is no pressing in the backcourt in this league.
Your daughter must attend a 60-90 min. evaluation session on one of two dates in October. Practices begin in November and are one hour a week. Games last one hour and begin on the first Saturday in December and conclude in early March 2010. No games or practices are scheduled during the last two weeks in December.

If you know of a business who can sponsor a team, sponsors can also sign up on www.Sportability.com. We need sponsors to help keep the cost of playing with AYB affordable for everyone.

PLAYER EVALUATION INFORMATION 2009 – 2010
Thanks for signing up your son or daughter for Alameda Youth Basketball. A player evaluation session is mandatory for all players. Players will participate in a series of basketball drills and play in a scrimmage game. This evaluation will help coaches and league officials draft equally matched teams. PLEASE BE AT THE EVALUATION 15 MINUTES EARLY. If you cannot make the first scheduled (weekend) evaluation, make sure you attend the make-up evaluation.
The AYB REGISTRATION, MEDICAL AND CONSENT FORMS must be completed prior to the evaluation.
