| Team Summaries | River Dogs Notes: Well, all fun things must come to an end, and so it goes for the River Dogs in '14. The team's last game had them down 6-1 early, but they rallied back to tie the score after the 3rd inning, which featured a 'grand slam' walk- perhaps a Little League first... well, maybe not on second thought. A very strong Volcano lineup put 3 runs on the board in the 4th and 5th and the River Dogs had to make 3 quick intentional outs to barely take the game to a 6th inning (their only hope). The top of the 6th is when the V bats really got hot and dropped 9 runs on the courageous River Dogs, who at the end, more resembled a MASH unit than a baseball team. The coaches couldn't have been more moved by all the kids' flowing tears at the end- fluid from their broken hearts staining the eye black. All in all a great season for a scrappy underdog, and a special group of players and kids. Volcanoes Notes: |
