| Team Summaries | Orange Crush Notes: The Orange Crush cruised to a 8 to 4 win over the Habanero's before a capacity crowd at Claude Moore Park. Strong pitching and defense contributed to the win. In the first inning the Habanero's hit into a double play as Claire Ahearn the starting pitcher snared a line drive and through to first base to double off the runner. All four Orange Crush pitchers - Claire Ahearn, Mikaela Mohardt, Jordan Joyce and Catherine Irvin combined to record 7 strikeouts and limit the Habanero's to 4 runs. Claire Ahearn and Catherine Irvin each pitched a one shutout inning. Catherine Irvin closed out the game by striking out the side. Other highlights of the game included a great defensive play by Lexi Tsitos at first base who tagged 1st base then threw to 2nd base looking to get the lead runner. Cassidy Anderson ignited a rally in the 2nd inning with a single. In the 3rd inning key hits by Erika D'Argenio and Catherine Irvin resulted in a run batted inn for each player. Lexi Tsitos and Cassidy Anderson each crossed home plate twice in the game. Along with the great pitching and defensive effort the Orange Crush came out swinging the bats that contributed to the 2nd and 3rd inning scoring rallies. Habanero Notes: |
