No league summary available Home Notes: The Mustangs came to play in a playoff 'Battle of Scottsdale'. Scottsdale opened the scoring midway in the first quarter, but the Wildcats answered back a few minutes later. The Mustangs went man-down late in the first quarter and Mohave capitalized with their only man-up goal of the game. 2-1 end of the 1st quarter.
No one scored for six minutes in the second quarter. Then the Wildcats put in 2 quick goals to take a 4-2 lead. A minute later Scottsdale scored, but Mohave answered right back to end the 1st half 5-2.
Both teams played shutout ball in the 3rd quarter. A tremendous effort by both teams.
Mohave added 2 more insurance goals in the 4th quarter - Scottsdale scored the last goal.
Mohave remains undefeated to set up a North vs South Final game for this Friday @5:30 at Scottsdale Community College.
FYI Player Note: An outstanding job by Ian Gray in goal for the Mustangs with 15 saves!
Kudos to Rich McAbee in his final coaching appearance with the Mustangs. One of the founding fathers of AYLL, Rich was Mustang lacrosse.
Away Notes: The mustangs, overmatched all year came out looking to stop the Mohave express. In the end, Mohave proved why they are undefeated. Ian Gray kept the score respectable with unbelievable saves and the hit of the game. The mustangs played their hearts out but were not up the the level of the Wildcats this day. This game was typical of all of the Mustang-Wildcat games. There is a reason its called the battle of Scottsdale when these two teams meet. Congrats to Mohave and coach Schettino as they head into the finals. A thank you to Andy Musgrove for helping coach the young mustangs. All benefited including Andy. Thanks to my players for being the best they could be for 8 years. Later
