Mercer controlled the opening face and much of the opening three minutes as Issaquah failed to clear and threw away an offensive possession. Nick Yaap made a few saves though and once Issaquah finally got spinning on offense they began ripping the net. Issaquah dominated the last half of the quarter and sprinted to a 5-1 lead. Issaquah peppered the cage and Mercer's Adam Bowen became visibly frustrated in net.
The second quarter slowed a bit but two more from Jake Director helped Issaquah push to a 7-2 halftime advantage.
Both teams looked gassed in the second half, but Issaquah managed to captialize on a few broken plays to extend to 9-2. Mercer rallied for two straight goals early in the 4th quarter, but a key Travis Wright to Todd Jones transition goal broke Mercer's spirit and all but ended it.
Nick Yaap was a huge difference in goal, making 14 saves and clearing the ball well. Connor McClain was his usual self... all over the field, tying up Mercer sticks left and right. Travis Wright and Jake Director led the offensive charge and pushed Issaquah back into the finals, snapping Mercer's string of 7 straight championship appearances.
