Vikings Football and Cheer
	Vikings Football and Cheer is a High School Prep competitive contact football league & High School Prep competitive cheer league that has been very successful in developing athletes of great character and skill for nearly 40 years. We strive to teach the fundamentals of both football and cheer that are needed to make the transition into High School as smooth as possible. The specific objective of the program is to familiarize participants with the basics of football & cheerleading, and to provide the opportunity to participate in a structured, supervised and safe environment. LYFC fields five football teams of children 7 to 14 years of age and five cheerleading squads of children 5 to 14 years of age. Each participant must have a physical exam and must submit an Diablo Valley Youth Football and Cheer (DVYFC)(our governing Conference) physical form signed by a physician prior to the start of practice. The first day of practice for Football and Cheer is August 1st. Please look at the season schedule for practice times. All practices are held at Mendehall school. Each football participant is required to put in a minimum of 10 hours of conditioning before they can participate in contact drills. There is a maximum limit of players per team, 35 football players and 20 cheerleaders, due to safety and minimum play requirements by the DVYFC conference. Please register early to ensure space for your child on their team. You will be receiving regular e mails between registration and the start of practice to keep you up to date on conditioning and nutrition tips to help prepare your athlete and to advise you of any preseason events, fundraisers etc. Please list an e mail on your registration that you use regularly.
