Away Notes:
The Pelicans and Cubbies came into this game with similar records and a split head-to-head on the season... nobody knew how this game would shake out.

The Pels grabbed an early lead 2-0 behind AlanB's RBI bunt and Murph's RBI single up the middle. B-Lightning gave up a run on no hits in the bottom of the first, and at 2-1, the game looked like a close one.

But in the second, the Pelican bats came alive. Elmer and Dino led off the inning with hits, and Tika and Twig got on base with walks setting up Alan (again) with a 2 out, 3 run double. Murph came on to pitch the home half of the second, an eleven pitch masterpiece.

The Pels struck for 3 more runs in the third, the key blow was Tika's RBI single.

Both teams threw up zeroes for a couple innings, as the Pels were unable to break through against JohnM until the 6th.

The Pels led off with 3 consecutive singles, including a shot by Big League Chew. With the bases loaded, and the defense playing for the out at the plate, Murph pulled a shot down the 1st base line. It looked like trouble off the bat, but the sure-handed Cubbies' 1stbaseman speared it and stepped on first for the unassisted double play. With 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Gogo calmly poked a 2-run double to right, capping the Pelicans' day at the plate.

Elmer came in to close the game and took on the Cubbies heart of the order with no real issues.

Congrats to the Cubbies on a good season, and good luck to the Pelicans as they move on to the second round against the well-rested Astros.
