A remarkable 3-year run came up a bit short as Issaquah's season ended in a defensive struggle.
Issaquah's defense played exceptional in holding Mercer to three goals below their previous season low and limiting Jon Wettack to a lone assist. Michael Mezs finished his career playing in top form and O'Neil Hughes made a season high 13 saves. The defensive performance was even more impressive considering Mercer most likely had over 70% of the possession.
As impressive as Issaquah's defense was, Mercer's was a notch above. Mercer held Issaquah to just two goals. The only previous time Issaquah scored just two was way back in 2002, their inaugural season. Issaquah's offense simply had no answer and never got into a rhythm...shutout for the first 3 quarters.
