League Summary:
The Gray Blobs won a physical game which saw players from both teams in foul trouble. The game was exciting despite the low score as each team used a full-court press and contested every shot. Michelle Griffin, who scored six points, converted two free throws with two minutes left in the game to bring the Gray Blobs within one point. Jezeca Melgar (eight points) sank a tough shot with 16 seconds remaining in the game to give the Blobs the lead. She also sank two free throws after time expired following a hard foul at game’s end. Brittany Walker scored six points for the Blobs and worked very hard on the boards.
Luciana Lino and Anjenay Bowens sparked the Ballas early with lay-ups and tight defense. Tirana Salausa and Micaela Tautalatasi played aggressive defense. Alex Hooper led the Ballas in scoring with 10 points and Odessa Cabuang made a key basket to tie the game in the second half. Alina Leyva (two points), Kiyomi Miller and Laurel O’Connor played tough defense and helped out on the boards.
