Home Notes:
This was a game in which the Roughriders'mature defensive unit and overall experience won out over Vashon's youth. In the first half, Vashon had trouble clearing the ball and controlling it on the offensive end. Though the Roughriders kept possession for much of the first half, Vashon stayed close. 5-4 Roughriders at half. In the second half, Roughriders defense continued to thwart Vashon, and the Roughriders gradually pulled away.

Congratulations to the Roughriders. You have earned your shot at the championship through four years of commitment and hard work.

Congratulations to Vashon's players for an outstanding season. You are a small school, yet you can compete against the likes of programs that draw from some of the areas largest high schools. That is quite an achievement.

Thanks to Vashon's scorekeepers and timekeepers who consistently exhibit utmost professionalism.

Thanks to Vashon Lacrosse fans who have been with us throughout the season.
Away Notes:
We made it!

This was a great semi-final match between two old foes. As always, Vashon are terrific hosts and a very classy team. The community support for this lacrosse club is outstanding.

The first quarter was nerve wracking, as the teams traded goals and were tied 3-3 after 12 minutes. The second period saw the Roughriders pull ahead by one (5-4).

Vashon won most of the face offs, and fast breaks seemed to be the norm throughout the game.

The Rider offense and defense tightened up in the second half to allow only one additional goal from the high-powered Vashon attack, while scoring three in the third and one in the fourth to ice the cake.

There were outstanding individual efforts throughout the game, but the play as a team was the key and the TEAM earned the game ball. (As an observer, I would have given it to the coaches.)

Congratulations on a huge success, Roughriders!

The crowd at Vashon was enthusiastic and loud, but imagine Seahawks Stadium!
