Playoff Loss (8 - 10) vs Issaquah View
Date: 5/20/2017 1:00p
Location: Apple Bowl

Away Notes:
Issaquah 2-5-2-1- 10
Wenatchee 3-1-3-1- 8

An 80 degree day and a beautiful setting for the first rendition of the 4A Quarterfinals at the Apple Bowl. These teams met back during spring break with each at less than full strength. With both sides in full tow and a berth in the 4A State Semis on the line this one had a much bigger vibe.

Despite giving up the first goal Issaquah started relatively sharp but after taking a 2-1 lead gave up back to back goals after saves. Freshman, Kolton Maans made three saves early but on two of them his defense let him down handing the ball right back on the first and failing to clear the crease on the second. As such, Wenatchee took a 3-2 lead into the 2nd quarter.

The second quarter was certainly Issaquah's sharpest and in the end truly was the difference in the game. Trey DeTolla absolutely dominated the quarter and could not be stopped 1v1. He scored two straight one coming from an intercepted pass on a ride. Max Dahlquist followed with a solo effort before DeTolla again took matters into his own hands. Wenatchee got one back and then tried to settle into a zone. Issaquah quickly sniffed that out and Griffin Fish fed Dahlquist off a quick pick for his second of the game and Issaquah maintained the three goal lead into half.

Issaquah threatened to bust it open early in the 2nd half as DeTolla scored his 5th. However, Issaquah started a string of several unforced turnovers and Wenatchee got two back to keep the game in reach. Issaquah squashed the momentum though when Kyle Wisler finished on the doorstep off a great feed from Dahlquist. Wenatchee squeaked one in to close the quarter and this one would go down the wire.

Just a minute and a half into the 4th Wenatchee squeaked in yet another and had Issaquah reeling. The heat and the pressure of the moment seemed to have Issaquah rattled as they simply threw the ball away on back to back possessions. Yet, each time the defense had the answer. With under 4 minutes to play DeTolla pressed the cage and threaded a pass to Rauch right on top of the cage for a quick finish. It was a huge goal to push the lead back out to two goals. Wenatchee did have a great opportunity to pull it back going man-up with 1:30 to play but Issaquah killed it off and ran out the final minute to move on to the semifinals. Survive and advance!

Issaquah record: 2-6-0
Wenatchee record against Issaquah: 0-0-0
