Game Two of the Cubs Terrific 2013 Season

Rick Diamond, Cubs cub-reporter

April 6, 2013

While some fans were watching their favorite baseball teams over the weekend in their homes or at AT&T Park—true lovers of the sport were in the bleachers at Victory Field, seeing the Cubs demonstrate why they are fast becoming one of the most exciting teams to watch in the Albany Little League.

The Cubs were playing the Cardinals for the first time in an exciting game that was called short in the 4th inning as the sun set and the cold wind and fog came in off the bay. The coaches called the game and the players ran out in the field to cheer their opponents after a rousing game that once again defied mere score keeping—did anyone know what the final score was?--as the teams played great baseball.

Coach Michael roused the boys to a fine team spirit as they took the field. When the Cubs were up at bat in the 1st inning, Tai led off the batting order, and three Cubs got on base, with two runs, with the outstanding line-up continuing to bring in runs for every inning.

In the 3rd inning, relief pitcher James H. took over for Coach Michael, and was followed by Tai on the pitchers mound. The whole team showed great progress with their fielding, with good plays at 1st and 2nd, and a near triple-play at 3rd where Nico just missed tagging the runner for one of the game’s great moments.

In addition to the fine work by the team, and the outstanding work of coaches Michael, Alan, Dale, and Jeff and Terry helping out in the dugout, were the cheering parents who supported their players with enthusiasm and good spirit—despite the cold winds. Another great day for the players and fans of Cubs baseball.
