Not important

I'm not overly thrilled with one aspect of seeing my first CAHA weekend. As the mother of two goalies, I find it blatantly inconsirate that on more than one occasion the scorekeeper was allowed to put up completely random numbers to represent the shots-on-goal during the games. (I will be horrified if I find out these are the numbers entered onto the official score sheets and/or the official CAHA records.)

If the person running the clock isn't able to keep a proper shots-on-goal tally during the game (and I know it can be very hectic in the clock/score keeping area, so I'm not blaming the person for not being able to do everything at the same time), then I would like to see CAHA implement a rule that states that part of the score board is just kept blank.

In my opinion, it's okay to show a proper count or no count, but by showing a completely fictictious count you may be sending a message to a team, a coach, a player, or a goalie that they will act on, consciously or subconsciously.

Just as the coaches determine certain plays based on the score, teams may determine actions based on shots-on-goal.

Whether this is true or not, I still feel it's important for CAHA to look into this debacle of scoreboard activity and give serious thought to my request.

One game this weekend had a team with 44 shots on our goalie and 14 shots on the opposing goalie, and the scoreboard (at the end of the game) showed 11 and 8 shots.

The goalie with 44 shots was told by some of his teammates that he shouldn't have let in 3 goals since he only had 11 shots. The team believed in the scoreboard. This made some of them feel differently about their goalie and/or the way their team played. It's not always possible for a kids to keep a mental tally of things going on in a heated CAHA game.

Please... proper shots on goal or NO shots on goal.

Thanks.
