5K officially timed, plus out-and-back 10K unofficially timed. Medals for both 5K and 10K races. Date of Race: April 3, 2011 Race Instructions below California Senior Games Road Race Competitors, First of all, thank you all for voicing your opinions, providing suggestions and working with us on this compromised road race portion of the games. We know many of you were counting on a 10k, and while we still cannot offer an officially timed event, we have found a way to get a 10k distance. The 5k course will remain the same and those wishing to run 10k will follow the same course as the 5k runners. Further, the 10k runners will be timed for their first 5k via chip timing. Then if the athlete wishes to continue on and complete a 10k they will need to make a hair pin turn at the 5k finish line and retrace the 5k course back to the starting line. We understand this is not ideal, but it is the best we could do under the circumstances. We will try to provide hand-timed results for the 10k, but they will not be official. There will be medals for both the 5 K and 10K.
