Team Summaries St. Matthew - Brady Notes:
In what turned out to be one of the toughest and hard fought games of the year, the St. Matthew Wildcats prevailed 13-8, securing the top spot in the IFBL 3rd grade boys basketball league. In the absence of Matthew Curtin, the team's leading rebounder the last three weeks, the boys were challenged to get more rebounds. Christian Chapman answered that call turning in his finest performance of the year grabbing 10 rebounds while scoring 3 points and playing great defense. Also turning in his best game of the year when his team needed him most was Drew Tomich who grabbed 5 rebounds. Drew also shut down the baseline again on defense. Conor Brady had an excellent game leading all scorers with 6 points and 4 rebounds. Charlie Gantt had a gutty game grabbing 3 rebounds while not feeling his best. Jake Lavender and Scott Tezza handled and distributed the ball very well while shutting down the opposition's scorers as they do week in and week out. Jake scored 2 points and had 1 rebound. Scott had 2 points and 2 rebounds. Another player who gets better every week and who had his best game of the year was Hunter Wicker. Hunter was in or near every loose ball situation and played with great poise. It was another terrific all around team effort. Next up: St. Patrick McDonald, our final game of the season.
