Game Summary Rainiers 5 Devil Rays 4

This NOLL semi-final contest between the Rainiers & Devil Rays featured two well-matched teams in a game where the lead changed four times. The Devil Rays challenged early by loading the bases in the bottom of the first. But Jasper S., playing first for the Rainiers made a great catch on a hard hit down the line and then quickly tagged first for an unassisted double play. In the second, Andrew B. tagged out a runner stealing second. The Devil Rays got on board first with two runs in the top of the third, but the Rainiers took the lead in the bottom of the inning with a two-out three run rally thanks to timely hits by Luke D. and Cameron W. The Devil Rays tied the game and then went ahead by one run when Gabe M. stole home on a passed ball in the 5th. With Max R. pitching, the Devil Rays quickly shutdown all three Rainiers' batters. In the top of the 6th the Devil Rays once again threatened, but Rainiers pitcher Vincent B. and heads up play by the defense held the Devil Rays to a one-run lead as they headed into the bottom of the sixth. Despite the one run deficit and the game on the line, the Rainiers remained loose as leadoff batter Chris C. walked to the plate. Chris was hit by a pitch and took first. Theo Q. hit a double to advance the runner to third. Jasper S. then hit a slow grounder down the first the base line for an out. But the hit scored the runner at third and advanced the runner from second to third. Vincent B. then stepped up to the plate with one out, the game tied and a runner on third. With a 2-2 count, Devil Rays pitcher missed a throw back from the catcher and Theo Q. broke for home from third. The Devil Rays shortstop grabbed the ball and threw to home, but Theo just beat the throw and slid across home plate for the win.
