Game Summary On a warm blue sky day in West Oakland, this game between the host Rainiers and visiting Dragons turned out to be a real pitcher’s duel. The Dragons managed to score first following a steal from second and a Rainiers overthrow from home to third. For the Dragons this would be their only score of the day, despite putting players in scoring position throughout the game. Like the week before the Rainiers duo of Cameron W and Andrew B put on a strong pitching performance through the first five innings. After four innings the game remained tied at one run each as the Dragons matched the Rainiers with solid pitching of their own, forcing the Rainiers to manufacture runs with aggressive base running.

Luke D (3 hits) and Jasper S (2 hits) had break-out hitting games for the Rainiers, while Nagi O, Chris C and Ari P once again helped the team with key RBIs. The strong defense of the Dragons was matched with excellent in-field play by the Rainiers’ Sam D, Ducson Z and Zachary S. Zachary had the play of the game turning an unassisted double-play at first by snagging a line drive and then quickly tagging the Dragons’ runner on his attempt to get back to first. Theo Q came in as a relief pitcher and put the game away for the Rainiers allowing no hits while striking out the Dragons last batter.
