| Team Summaries | Astros Notes: The Cubbies gave the Astros everything they could handle and as we headed into the bottom of the 5th, the game was tied. Bryce had scattered runners and relied on his defense which was up to the challenge, turning a 1st inning (ending) double play, gunning a runner at the plate, and in a key moment in the 3rd inning, CF Griffin, picked up a ball near the left field fnec and tossed the ball to shortstop DK, who then threw a strike to Kani at 3rd to erase Cubbie Jonah a split second before Josh hit the plate for what would have been the go ahead run. The out at 3rd was an inning ender and an inning and a half later, the Astros had pushed ahead 5-1 before turning the game over to closer Spencer who slammed the door shut, striking out 4 in 2 innings of work. Eddy came up big with 2 base hits, the second driving in 2 runs in the pivotal 5th inning. Cubbies Notes: |
