Team Summaries Curtis Notes:
Hats off to Issaquah. What a battle it was.
Issaquah won the first quarter 4 - 2.
Curtis came back and won the 2nd quarter 6 - 1 to take a half time lead of 8 - 5. Both teams battled in the 3rd with Curtis taking a slight lead for the quarter of 3 -2 entering the 4th quarter Curtis leading by 4. Issaquah showed they have been coached to never give up and how to win - coming back and putting 5 in the first 5 minutes of the 4th going up by one. Both teams battled for the next 3:30 without resulting in a goal till Nick Janicki battled for a ground ball next to the Curtis bench showing his heart and determination. He took checks from 2 Issaquah players but did not panic. He drove hard to his left absorbing excellent checks and saw Dane Hamilton on the upper left. Nick feed Dane who put in the tying goal with 3:34 left.

Regular Time ending in a 12 - 12 tie.
Issaquah won the OT face off and came down and had a full minute offensive stand getting off a great shot, but Curtis goalie Jacob Hassing was able to secure the save and sent the ball back to the Curtis Offense. A.J. Gilbert made a great pass to Dane Hamilton who took a quick, hard shot and was able to get it past the Issaquah goalie for the win.

Truly a great Quarter Final Game

Issaquah Notes:
Issaquah 4-1-2-5-0- 12
Curtis 2-6-3-1-1- 13

High school sports at its best as this game had a bit of everything!

Curtis threw first punch, Issaquah responded. Curtis took the lead again but Issaquah scored 3 straight inside the last 4 minutes of the quarter to take 4-2 lead after one quarter.

Curtis quickly tied the game to start the second but a Matt Moss worm burner from Gaje Gunter straight off the faceoff put Issaquah back in front. Game then took a big turn away from the back and forth as Curtis dominated the rest of the quarter. Issaquah look disorganized and Vikings seemed in command, 8-5 at the break.

Things got controversial in the 3rd. Issaquah bounced back and had cut to one goal game. Despite Curtis pushing back out to 10-7, Issaquah seemed to respond again from a faceoff. Gunter's bounce shot went right into and apparently through the net. Confusion ensued and officials ruled no goal. Issaquah's protest led to Curtis ball and Vikings swung the momentum back to a 4 goal margin. Issaquah seemed dead in the water, deflated from the call and now down four goals heading into the 4th quarter.

But as he did all day, Gaje Gunter brought Issaquah back to life. He won the opening face and Issaquah drew a flag. Jack Richards from Cody Liddle on the man-up. Gunter kept winning faceoffs and scored the next two himself. Another faceoff win and as Issaquah held to sub, Curtis pressed. Rowan Dillon ran by the pressure and found Sol Hawkins still hanging out in the offensive head - tie game! Gunter again and this time to Moss whom absolutely blistered the corner! Issaquah had taken a 12-11 lead in the span of 5 minutes- simply remarkable.

Both teams dug in their heels and score remained 12-11 until under 4 minutes. Curtis went man-up, but Issaquah held though shortly after a scramble play on the sideline resulted in a Viking groundball and they made the most of the broken play - tie game. Both teams had chances inside the final 3 minutes but the game would go to OT.

In overtime, Gunter won the faceoff and Issaquah had a decent look, but the Curtis netminder stood tall. After the clear, Curtis made the most of their opportunity and ended a remarkably dramatic game.

Issaquah showed resolve all season, all the way to the finish... a great game and an overall good season.
