Community Day in Issaquah ended in style with a great match up between old friends and rivals. This classic marked the 10th anniversary of the 2008 Division I State Championship in which Issaquah beat Bainbridge so those in attendance (including several alumns) were treated to a great show.

Issaquah came out fired up and played the best 3 minutes of lacrosse it has played all season. It was mistake free, high energy, fundamental and crisp. Gaje Gunter won faceoffs and scored the 2nd goal himself while Max Dahlquist finished from Jared Humenny on the first. Issaquah had a 2-0 lead and the defense hadn't even moved.

Game settled in a bit and rest of the first quarter was much more back and forth, though Issaquah failed to capitalize on a few great chances to extend the lead.

Early in the 2nd quarter Max Dahlquist zipped a great pass through the seam to find a sneaking Jack Richards at the back pipe to go up 3-0. Bainbridge finally broke through midway through the 2nd, but Issaquah responded and closed the half with an incredible backhanded goal from Griffin Fish to take a 5-1 lead into the break.

However the momentum was short lived into the 2nd half.
Issaquah's riding game had been on point and they almost picked off another but after the narrow miss, Issaquah lost track of a midfielder in transition and he scored a relatively easy one to spark Bainbridge on a three goal run. Now up just 5-4, Issaquah dug in with an answer. Dahlquist and Humenny each scored solo efforts to build the lead back to three goals entering the 4th.

Off the opening face off the 4th, the ball moved to Griffin Fish with a mismatch on a short stick. He immediately attacked from the high right wing and thread a pass through the seam to find Richards on the back pipe. Richards calmly faked and wrapped it around the keeper to regain the four goal margin. Though slightly a different angle the play was very similar to the Dalhquist to Richards look in the 2nd quarter.

After Some scrappy play, the Issaquah ride again succeeded and won it back, up four and poised to take control up 4, but an ill advised shot gave Bainbridge the break it needed and the Spartans took advantage in transition the other way. They built on that momentum to control the next few minutes and get another one back at the 4:14 mark. Down just two, Bainbridge now seemed positioned to take it down to the wire. A key faceoff win, gave Issaquah a big possession and eventually they drew a flag with just 2:45 to play. Issaquah ran the clock for 40 seconds before a quick feed from Dahlquist to Gunter on the crease caught Bainbridge on their heels. The man-up goal pushed it back to a three goal margin and essentially sealed it for Issaquah.

From start to finish this was the most complete game Issaquah has played this season and in terms of the quality of opponent, also the best win of the season.
