Issaquah teetered on the edge all night, but each time they seemed ready to implode they found a way to dig down and grind back. Stanwood jumped to a 2-0 as Issaquah chased sticks and failed to get in defensively. Issaquah got one right back as Griffin Fish sidestepped a defender to finish a fastbreak. It didn't seem to slow down the Spartans though as they tacked on two more, one on a backhanded shovel shot driving from X while the other came from a well executed 1-4-1 set leading to a lefty laser from the wing.

Issaquah regrouped in the 2nd quarter and finally settled in defensively. Two goals from Kyle Wisler, both on simple cuts to the crease and a tally from Jared Humenny brought the game back to even at half.

Stanwood scored first in the 3rd followed by another from Humenny before the Spartans capitalized on Issaquah's confusion and failure to have enough players on the field - 6-5 Stanwood into the 4th. Early in the 4th, Stanwood put on the instant reply as same player scored on backhanded shovel shot driving from X again. Issaquah trailed 7-5 with under 7 minutes to play but dug down once again. Jared Huemnny continued his streak by catching a feed from Wisler and stinging top right corner. He followed with a solo tally around the 4 minute mark that just managed to slowly roll in as the thick grass killed nearly all the bounce.

After a big save from Daniel Davis the ensuing clear got sketchy, but Davis took a crosscheck push in the back right as timeout was called so Issaquah went man-up. Issaquah got nothing out of the advantage but maintained possession and freshman, Gaje Gunter stepped up to tally himself with just over two minutes to play, 8-7 Issaquah!

Stanwood won the ensuing faceoff but Davis came up with a big save once again! Issaquah cleared and aided with another timeout was able to run the final minute off the clock.
