Team Summaries Stanwood Notes:
This was a tough battle on a muddy field in the rain, classic NW lacrosse of the old school. Despite the long trip over from San Juan Island, it was the visiting Dragons who struck first by Sean Hills. Stanwood answered with 4 goals, and San Juan answered that with a second goal to end the quarter at 4 goals to 2. In the 2nd quarter, the Dragons roared back, taking the lead with 3 goals, only to have Stanwood edge back in front with a goal at :53 seconds for a half-time score of 6-5 in favor of the home team. The second half settled into a hard-fought defensive battle. Stanwood was able to pull ahead for good, however, on 2 Josh Smith goals, 1 each in the 3rd and 4th quarters for the 8-5 final score.

The Spartan's Joshua Smith led all scorers with a hat trick, plus 2 ground balls. Tate Brumsickle led the Dragons with 2 goals, 1 assist and 7 ground balls; while Sean Hills had 2 goals and 3 ground balls; and Kyle Hills added 1 goal and 1 ground ball. Other leaders for Stanwood were Frank Medlicott with 2 goals, 3 assists and 7 ground balls; Michael Sams with 2 goals and 5 ground balls; and Garrett Savoy with 1 goal and 2 ground balls.

Thanks to the Dragons for a great, hard-fought, cleanly played game that should make all San Juan proud. The rematch at San Juan in a few weeks promises to be first-rate.

San Juan Notes:
Under tough conditions and again with just one referee, Stanwood outlasted San Juan for a hard fought victory. Congrats on the win and we look forward to the rematch.
