| Team Summaries | Sea Dogs Notes: Every Dog has his day! Ours happened to be on Saturday! The Dogs played their regular season finally in front of a packed house at the Federal Express, Overstock, Sprint Bluebonnet Bowl at Montera Stadium. It was not only the best game of the season for the Dogs, but it may have been the best game of the season for the entire league. The game was a back and forth see saw with both teams playing well and never giving up. Among the highlights for the Dogs were two put outs at home plate (almost three if the ball didn't get knocked out of Shaggy's glove!), excellent defense (what a surprise, Hills makes another web gem!) and they swung the bats and put balls in play all day long. Watching Sandman try to score in the 5th was like watching the ball hit back and forth at a tennis match! Finally, his agressive, daring, and ill advised attempt to score paid off as the Dogs won this one 10-9. Great pitching from the three muskateers, Shaggy, Gramps, and Country Boy (who rallied from the flu the day before to take his rotation spot) kept the Dogs in the game from the first inning on. It would have been impossible to give out just one game ball today, becuase vitually every Dog deserved it. But alas, today's game ball went to the unsong heros of the Fighting Dogs. The kids who are behind the scenes rooting hard, working hard, and supporting the Dogs with very little thanks or recongition. Today's game ball went to our bat boys, Hideki and Leo, for without them the bats would still be lying near homeplate. Leo, you'll be getting yours next week. Whatch out for those Dogs in the playoffs! We just may be peaking at the right time! Islanders Notes: |
