Team Summaries Timber Rattlers Notes:
The Commissioner's Cup, part 1!
The highly anticipated matchup of AA Commissioners was viewed by a boisterous crowd. There were fives of fans in attendance, and they were rewarded with a doozy!

The first round of fireworks was immediate. Q took the mound in the top of the first and the Dogs showed classic hunting dog patience, coaxing 4 walks and wearing a bruise and then running the bases like demon dogs - well-trained demon dogs. Before the grass under the fans' butts was warm, it was 5-0 and the T-Rats had been given a valuable lesson in baserunninig.

Q settled down in the second, retiring 3 batters on just 14 pitches, and the T-Rats offense began to click. 2 runs scored on Bootsy's single to left in the bottom of the 2nd, with Ryan out trying to score from 1st on a great relay by the Dogs.

Four T-Rats pitchers each threw in the final 4 innings, highlighted by Red Bull's 12-pitch, 3-strikeout performance. Pitching and Defense dominated the middle frames, with clean infield play and an F9 recorded as well. The score was 7-3 entering the bottom of the 5th.

The fireworks started back up, with the T-Rats plating 5, showing great plate discipline in many at bats. The big hit of the inning was Wiffle's right handed clout to left, a standup triple that ignited the bench and had the coaches wishing they had put up the home run fence!

The final out showed that the T-Rats had learned the lesson the Dogs taught them in the first - with Clam on the mound and in a little jam, the T-Rats seized control of the baserunning. 7Up backpicked the lead runner at 2nd base with a bullet throw to Q, who dropped down a tag for the win.

The final score was 8-7, and the game was somehow much closer than that. See you all again in May.

Called Up: Wiffle

Sea Dogs Notes:
This one was one for the ages! The Fighting Dogs are licking their wounds this morning after watching their early lead slip away. The Rats never gave up, and despite some defensive lapses in the first inning, charged ahead with a great eye at the plate and a tenancity that was so thick you could cut it with a knife.

I can't wait for the rematch-the Thrilla in Montera!

The Dogs made the most of their two hits, scoring 7 runs. But it wasn't enough on this day. On defense we saw not one, but two amazing plays at the plate! Shaggy is a natural catcher and although the first out call at the plate was reversed after a some discussion about blocking the plate, the second, a 7-3 assist from Hills was trully remarkable! Seems like Hills makes a web gem every game! Oh, and something about an unassisted line drive doubleplay by our shortstop, too!

Special kudos to our league President who came out to watch the Commissioner's Cup!

Game ball went to Shaggy. Without his superior play behind the dish, this game would have gotten out of hand early! Great job Shaggy!
