This game lived up to its billing - it was a classic. Both teams traded goals like heavyweight boxers trading punches. Both teams were evenly balanced - strong offense and strong defense. Sammamish scored first near the 8 minute mark. Providence answered four minutes later. Then Sammamish, then Providence again. Providence took its first lead of the game with three minutes left in the second quarter ... but Sammamish answered with 29 seconds left in the half. Sammamish owned the ball for most of the third quarter, but Providence shut them out. Finally, Ryan Morris ripped a 20 yarder to the top right corner to give Providence the lead with 1:22 left in the third quarter. Sammamish tied it with 23 seconds left in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Sammamish scored near the 11 minute mark and again near the 9 minute mark to take the first 2-goal lead of the game. But Providence scored near the 7 minute mark to bring it back to a one point game. Sammamish continued to try to run down the clock. Finally, Providence doubled the ball, but Tyler Wright found Brian Headland open on the crease and Brian buried it for the last score of the game with 6:11 left in the fourth quarter. From there, Providence had some transition plays with shot opportunities, but the Sammamish defense was quick to snuff them out.

Five different Providence players scored and six different Sammamish players scored. Players of the game were Ryan Morris (Prov) with 3 goals and Brian Headland (Sam) with 4 goals. Luke Morris (Prov) played some great defense to stop Tyler Wright (Sam) from scoring.

It was a great game - an exciting and fun game to watch. Both teams played with class. Thanks, and good luck to Sammamish in the rest of the playoffs!
