A great night for lacrosse and a great match-up between two solid teams. However, both teams ran so hard and pressured the ball so well that it made for an odd, turnover filled, up and down affair.

Issaquah has rarely been shutout in quarters this year and tonight they got shut out in two quarter... the first and the fourth... and they still won... further evidence of the strange flow to the game.

Bainbridge survived an early barrage from Issaquah before teams traded scrambles up and down the field. Then Bainbridge seemingly controlled the ball for the final six minutes of the quarter as Issaquah failed to win groundballs or clear when they did. Bainbridge finally capitalized with just 25 seconds left in the 1st quarter as Alex Crane dipped underneath a poor slide and finished.

Issaquah's offense woke up in the 2nd. Duncan Hamilton started it off by sqeezing one in off an alley dodge. Ashton Ritchie followed a few minutes later with a low angled odd wrap around shot after some great ball movement. Matt O'Neill got his first on a well place shot after dragging his defender up top and beating him inside down the alley. Kevin Powers followed with his first after some more good ball movement as he spun and ripped one low. Issaquah finished the 5-goal quarter when Jake Fritz simply beat his man at 'x' and came around for the finish. 5-1 Issaquah at half.

Issaquah carried the momentum into the third quarter and opened with a quick one. After a hard dodge and redirect, Powers found Matt O'Neill on the back side for another low rip. Four minutes later Powers capitalized on a rebound opportunity, winning the groundball and punching it in over the keeper to extend to a six goal margin. Issaquah had all the momentum but a bonehead mistake on defense allowed Bainbridge to start to creep back in. Off a dead ball, Issaquah failed to match-up and left a man on the crease wide open... one pass... goal... broke the ice for Bainbridge and they scored again just a few minutes later after a failed Issaquah clear.

Issaquah got one back to close the period and took an 8-3 advantage to the 4th. Bainbridge won the opening faceoff of the quarter and after a great possession found a cutter who caught awkwardly, twirled and finished. The next 6 minutes saw a lot of frantic. Lots of turnovers and scrambles. Issaquah had the ball with under two minutes and a four goal lead but couldn't handle the Bainbridge double teams. Bainbridge got one back with 1:26 left and another back with 0:18 left for the final margin.

It was ugly at the end for Issaquah but played well enough for most of the game to earn the big lead and finally capture a big win against a quality opponent.
