Team Summaries DBacks Notes:
OAKLAND, Ca. -- After a week lay-off, the Diamondbacks were ready to take on the visiting Padres in a Sunday Night Baseball Special on Mother’s Day at the always chilly Willard Field. The weather threatened to rain the game out, but the spirit of Mother’s Day prevailed keeping the rain away. Like the temps, the game was brisk; moving at a rapid pace. In a well played game, the DBacks notched their 6th win in a row claiming a 7-3 victory over the division rival Padres.

The game started with a pitcher’s duel. Waldo pitched 2 shutout innings for the DBacks. Rerun added 3 innings allowing just 1 run and Wizard a scoreless inning. Max G. of the Padres answered by allowing just 1 run over the first 3 innings. But the activity would pick up in the home half of the 4th inning with the score tied 1-1.

Rerun started the DBack rally in the bottom of the 4th with a lead-off single. He later would steal second base. B.A. laid down a beautiful bunt that scored Rerun from second to make it 2-1. Bump then reached base on a hard shot to second base. B.A. and Bump later scored on a single by Old Spice for a 4-1 DBack lead.

In the bottom of the 5th, the DBacks added two more runs for a 6-1 lead. Dash got things going with a 1-out single. He moved to third on a smash to third base by Rerun. Rerun and Dash both would later score during a failed squeeze play.

Another run would be added to the DBack tally in the bottom of the 6th inning. Zing-ah drew a 1-out walk. The speedy T-dub, inserted as a special pinch runner, stole second and third base. He scored on a single by Sometimes making it 7-1.

Making his first appearance on the mound this season, T-dub closed out the game for the DBacks allowing 2 runs in the top of the 7th, completing a 7-3 victory for the DBacks.

Both teams sent off the shivering mom’s with a warm cheer to close out the Sunday Night Special Event.
