Pelicans Notes:
Another chilly night at Willard couldn't stop the Pels and Padres from playing extra innings!

The Padres jumped out to a 2-0 lead on SamMM's single up the middle, then both teams traded large numbers in the 2nd. The Pels batted around and posted 5, two scoring on Kirby's triple to right center. The Padres answered with 4 in the bottom half.

After that it was a constant state of scratch and claw the rest of the evening. In the representative 6th, the Pels loaded the bases only to see the Padres work out of the jam with a K, P1, K sequence. In the bottom, Malibu allowed a leadoff single, then picked the runner off. The next batter walked, and Malibu picked him off, too. Despite the big lefty's big move, the Padres eeked out a run which gave them a 10-8 lead.

In the top of the 7th the Pels plated a pair to tie; Cornflake's sacrifice groundout was the big blow. With the top of the lineup coming around, it felt like another run was possible in the top of the 8th, but great defense by MaxG and DruvP (respectively snaring a line drive and catching a pop up despite tripping over 2nd base) got the Friars into the dugout needing just a run, which those same 2 players delivered!

Great game to both teams; here's hoping that tomorrow afternoon's game is just as fun!
