| Team Summaries | DBacks Notes: OAKLAND, Ca. -- NOLL SOLL Juniors began inner division play with the Diamondbacks hosting the Padres at Willard field on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Both teams sent rookie pitchers to the mound, Dhruv P for the Padres and Dash for the DBacks. The Padres started the game by sending 8 hitters to the plate, but Dash allowed just 1 to score. Dhruv preserved the 1-0 lead by striking out the DBacks in the bottom of the 1st. Dhruv added to the Padres lead by hitting a 2-run homer over the Chain-Link Monster in left. Eli W. scored another run in the 2nd to make it 4-0 Padres. The DBacks began nibbling back at the Padre lead in the bottom or the 2nd. After walks by both Bump and Curvy, T-dub hit a triple that scored both to make the score 4-2 in favor of the Padres after two innings. The Padres added to their lead with doubles by Jerry M. and #17. At that point, Rerun came on relief and proceeded to shut down the Padre offense over the next 4 2/3 innings allowing just 1 run on 1 hit while striking out a season high 6. While Rerun and the DBack D held the Padres scoreless in the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings, the DBack offense went to work. Going into the bottom of the 4th the score was 5-2. T-dub and Moose each drew 2-out walks. The bats then awoke with an RBI single by Dash and a double by Waldo, a shot that bounced off the Monster in left. The rally scored 3 runs to tie the game at 5-5. The DBacks added another 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th. After back-to-back strikeouts to start the inning, Curvy ignited a DBack rally with a double to the left center field gap. A couple walks later Moose ripped a single that scored 2. The last run of the inning scored off an RBI single by Waldo. The score was 8-5 in favor of the home DBacks. To maintain consistency, the DBacks plated another 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th for a 11-5 lead. B.A. followed up a lead-off walk with a single. Rerun hit a single that scored 2 and Moose added another RBI single. The Padres managed their first hit off Rerun in the top of the 7th and plated a run to make the final 11-6. And with that the division play was underway with success for reluctant DBacks, who scored 7 of their 11 runs with 2 outs.
