| Team Summaries | Pelicans Notes: Kudos to the DBack and Pel parents who produced the best crossover BBQ of all times! The food was plentiful, timely and tasty and was a large part of a wonderful afternoon. Game 2 of the woodbat doubleheader featured a little more offense than the opener, but not by much. The Pels asked Kirby to replicate Tigger's efforts on the mound, and he did just that. By the end of the day, Kirby had thrown 7 innings in an efficient 91 pitches, of which only 20 were out of the strike zone. 28 of 33 DBack batters faced first pitch strikes, and while 9 of the Snakes managed hits (including a huge clout to RF off the stick of Bump), they never seemed to clump up for big numbers. Bruiser helped out with a running catch in RF, and Malibu and Bass each made fine plays at first. Pungo (still experiencing discomfort when he swings) laid down a beautiful suicide squeeze, and later in the same inning Krusty smashed a single to bring home 2 more. A special Pels' shout out to Sarge, who showed why (and how) he runs things on the Pels. 13 innings pitched by Pels pitchers, 13 innings caught by Sarge who simply refused to give up the gear. He even warmed up a couple pitchers between innings and on a day where the teams batted CBO so there could be no pinch runners, he contributed his fair share of offense as well.
