Team Summaries Tacoma Notes:
Curtis 4 3 4 2 - 13
Tacoma 1 2 1 3 - 7

Curtis made Tacoma pay for some mental mistakes on defense, while hounding us on our offensive end and making it hard for us to move the ball. The Lions fought hard all the way to the end and won the 4th quarter to end the game on a positive note.

Curtis Notes:
Curtis - 4-3-4-2 (13)
Tacoma - 1-2-1-3 (7)

My apology to the Tacoma Team, Coaches and Parents for the biggest bone head move I have ever done while coaching, calling for a stick check with 30 seconds left in the game. It had nothing to do with your team, but my frustration with the face-off losses and the referees missing the ball stuck in the back of the stick. I am glad that the young man that I called the stick check on got a great assist to finish the game and make me pay for my stupid call.

1st Quarter:
Curtis lost the opening face-off and Tacoma was on offense for the first minute plus until a great defensive stand by Alex Anderson. The ball transitioned to the offense and Curtis struck with the first goal of the game by Colby Carr. While playing in my opinion a very slow effort by Curtis we were able to score the second goal 2 minutes latter by Brandon Dean fed by Colby Carr. Garrett Stockdale put his mark on the game showing that he is a great open field player with a drive down the right side and a rocket bounce shot to the goalies off side hip only one minute latter. Stating that he was not willing to let this game get out of hand. Taylor Dean and Colby Carr for Curtis showed their leadership by both putting in a goal to finish out the quarter.
Curtis 4 - Tacoma 1

2nd Quarter:
Curtis again came out slow and Tacoma possesed the ball for a good 3 minutes off the quarter with some great shots, but nothing finding the net. Curtis final got on offense and scored two within the 8th minute of the game to build momentum. Tacoma would not fold and put two of their own back in over the next 5 minutes. Curtis' Alex Larson put one away with :46 seconds left to finish the half.
Curtis 7 - Tacoma 3

3rd Quarter:
Curtis came out with a spark in the 3rd and showed the movement and team play that they opened the season with against Stadium, scoring 4 all assisted goals in the first 6 minutes of the quarter. Tacoma stabilized and their defense lead by Zach Fuller took a stand and did not let anymore in. They scored their only goal of the quarter with 1:32 left on the clock.
Curtis 11 - Tacoma 4

4th Quarter:
After a great 3rd quarter, Curtis came out a little too confident and went to the one on one game instead of the team game that got us where we were. Zach Fuller, Charlie Smith and the rest wanted nothing to do with that and played great individual and team defense. At the 6:30 mark after a time out Curtis started playing a team game again and scored two goals in the next two minutes both goals by Colby Carr assisted from Riley Moody. That proved to be the last that Curtis would put up. Tacoma scored at the 3:47 mark. The last 4 minutes of the game were dominated by Tacoma. They should have scored more in that period, but Mitchell Homeyer was awake for Curtis in the pipes while his defense was sleeping and made 6 of his 8 saves that quarter in that period. Garrett Stockdale made another great shot that got past Mitchell with 36 seconds left. After the face-off and my bad decision, Tacoma showed their pride and scored another goal with only 19 seconds left.
Curtis 13 - Tacoma 7

Great heart and hustle was shown by Tacoma. Again my apology for a bad call at the end of the game.
