But it was Redmond’s Senior Night, and the Redmond seniors struck first less than a minute into the game on a goal by Tyler Dougherty assisted by Valentine Harrison. Snohomish would have none of it, and Justin Jones tied the game with an unassisted goal on an outside shot between two defenders. Despite several solid shots from Redmond, goalie Loren Danielson kept the game at a 1-1 tie at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Redmond kept the pressure on, but was unable to score until senior Hunter MacDonald rifled one past the goaltender midway through the period. Once again, Snohomish answered back on another unassisted Justin Jones goal, followed almost immediately by an unassisted goal from Brandon Todd. It looked like it was headed into halftime with Snohomish ahead until Tyler Dougherty knotted the score with a minute left in the half. The outcome of this game was clearly undecided, and both teams knew that it could come down to another overtime game to decide the winner. The second half started with another quick goal by Dougherty, with the assist coming from Jake Bernstein. A possible Snohomish response was muted by the teamwork of Redmond’s defense, led by Sean Shewey, Clement Signoretty, Mike Ericson and the Bomberry brothers, Ray and Brad. Midway through the third period, Redmond was finally able to crack open the determined Snohomish defense, with two unassisted goals by Barry McDonough, unassisted goals by a leaping DJ Ohlstrom and Jake Bernstein, and a goal by the senior combination of Harrison Valentine on a Tyler Dougherty assist. At the end of three, Redmond led 9-4. Dougherty and Harrison teamed up again at the start of the fourth quarter for Dougherty’s fourth goal of the night, followed by first-year player Brian Cox’s goal on an assist from Cody Bernstein, with Redmond's scoring closed out by Valentine’s second goal of the night. Snohomish refused to give an inch all night, and Josh Pederson found the back of the net to finish the scoring for the night. Snohomish Notes: |
