Snohomish Notes:
On what started as a beautiful evening for a lacrosse game, turned into a wet, slippery, game; but it was a good one at that!

Compliments to Nathan Hale, who refused to go away and would not roll over, as time and time again they kept pouring on the pressure, but on this night the Panther's refused to be denied to 'W'.

It was an excited match-up, with two team that just played hard-nosed, clean lacrosse, and both teams wanted it bad. Action was fast paced, up and down the field. In the end it looked like ground balls were the difference with Snohomish picking up 38 to Nathan Hale's 24.

Panther's came a little sluggish on the offensive end in the 1st quarter. Nathan Hale test the defense tested right away and early with 9 shots being released, 6 made it on cage, with Danielson stopping 4 and only letting 2 get by. Ball possession and goals scored by Osborn at 5:01, and Chernick at 4:37, closed the frame at a 0-2 lead for Hale.

In the second quarter, a more complete effort from Snohomish came to the surface, as the defense continued their trend of shutting down the scoring of an opponent, for the entire quarter, 10 shots were released, 5 saves by Danielson, and every other shot was contested by the defense refusing to allow an uncontested shot to make its way to the goal. On the offensive end of the field, the O-Panthers found their way to the back of the goal two times, by Hund at 8:43, and Anderson assisted by Jones at 3:55. Nathan Hale was relentless in their pursuit for the ball, with more possession time, and gb's in the quarter than Snohomish. Both teams went to made adjustments at half time, tied 2-2.

The 3rd resulted in more intense competition, 59 seconds in the 3rd quarter Nathan Hale's Harvey found the back of the net with a high bounce shot the looped over the goals shoulder from in tight on the crease. Snohomish would return by twice moving the net with an unassisted goal from Steranka, at 9:57, who would also get an assist by finding Hund for a goal at 7:70. Concluding the scoring for the 3rd quarter but not the hits, as 4 times in this quarter, the physical game known as lacrosse came into play. Twice Nathan Hale's riding team was able to put a shoulder into a Panther and retain possession of the ball. Snohomish's Wirtz was all to kind to return the favor while he was riding, and Harper made what may have been the play of the game. While in defensive transition and in rotation to the ball, Harper saw a long pass go over the tops, he was able to close the 13 yards get stick on stick and put a shoulder into a wide open Hale attackman on the crease, who had made the brave commitment to stand in there catch the pass and attempt to get a shot off that could have changed the game The quarter closed with a 4-3 lead for Snohomish and a very honorable quarter of lacrosse play by both teams.

With all the suspense of what you would think is a playoff game, the 4th quarter started. Wirtz dominated at the F/O X and Snohomish took their time in posessions, until 9:07, Nathan Hale was able to rattle off a tying goal from Harvey assisted by Chernick. Snohomish once more would shut access off to the goal, take possession of the ball, and take the lead and never look back. All three goals were assisted the first coming at 8:50 from Anderson assisted by Jones. 32 seconds later Jones would provide the helper to teammate Hund at 8:18, and to put the ball to sleep Hund followed the team trend assisting Steranka with 1:24 remaining in the game.

Goalie play was outstanding as both goalies time and time again were denying their opponents scoring opportunities. In the end Danielson had 16 stops for Snohomish, and Hale's Adams made 13.

Snohomish has a quick turn around for Roosevelt on Friday March 27 at 730pm at Glacier Peak High School in South Snohomish. Best of luck to Nathan Hale as they continue through their season, and we look forward to a spirited game against them in a few weeks.
