Team Summaries | Issaquah Notes: Lincoln 3-1-3-3 10 Issaquah 0-3-2-4 9 Lincoln rebounded from an opening day loss and brought some inspired play to avenge a loss to Issaquah a year ago. Though he was held to a single 4th quarter goal, the Cardinlas seemed to also feed off a spark from Peter Baum's return to the lineup. Issaquah opened sloppy with 3 failed clears and 5 unforced errors in the 1st quarter. After a single solid offensive possession early, Issaquah never really saw the ball. Lincoln dominated groundballs and faceoffs in the quarter to jump to a 3-0 lead. Jordan Goldstein lead a 2nd quarter comeback scoring two unassisted and helping pull Issaquah back to a 4-3 halftime deficit. Sophomore attackman, Tony Baum was the difference in the first half for Lincoln with a hand in all of Cardinal's goals. The younger Baum's play continued in the 3rd, netting one himself and notching yet another assist. But Goldstein kept carrying Issaquah as well. Two more goals kept the purple and gold within striking distance. Lincoln pushed to 8-5 before Issaquah scored two straight to cut it back to a one goal game. Issaquah had their chances to tie, but more unforced errors and a blown man-up chance became too much to overcome. The defense was forced to extend inside the final 4 minutes and Lincoln capitalized to push to 10-7 and put the game out of reach. Issaquah scored twice in the final 15 seconds to provide the final margin. In a losing effort, Jordan Goldstein scored a career high 6 goals, the lone bright spot offensively. Cameron Danforth made his first career varsity start and made 5 saves in net. Lincoln Notes: |
