Game Summary: Northshore started the scoring one minute into the first with a Taylor Wisman feed to Bowen Hadley; then 3 minutes passed until Mercer was able to answer. The chess match continued through the first period as both teams were feeling their way; ending at 4-2 with a last second goal by Bowen Hadley from Jake Dossett. Mercer Island added 3 more and Northshore answered with one from Jake Dossett assisted by Bowen Hadley; halftime score 7-3. The second half got underway with Mercer continuing to control the faceoff x, when Northshore asked for a stick check on a D-pole. A pinched head resulted in a 3 minute non-releasable for Mercer Island, and although MI’s Jonathan Wettack put on a keep-away clinic with double team pressure, Northshore was able to add 2 goals on man-down, one from Taylor Wisman fed by Scott Barclay, and another from Bowen Hadley assisted by sophomore Tyler Paris. Bowen added a fourth goal with 56 seconds to go, ending the 3rd period at 9-6. What had been a fairly easy night for the refs got a bit more dicey in the 4th period. A Northshore slash erupted into a fight. One player from each side ejected, we played 9 on 9 non-releasable for 3 minutes, then another slash by Northshore resulted in 2 man-down scores by MI. When the penalty box cleared it was 14-9, then one more late ended it 15-9 in favor of Mercer Island. Northshore defense held tough again tonight, despite being down a couple players. Stuart Dransfield was seeing the ball well tonight, and even ran down and took a shot with Taylor Wisman in front to redirect for a score.
