Port Angeles C Notes:
Close game between two evenly matched teams. Congrats to a good Issaquah team. The rematch in the playoff opener should be a good one. Looking forward to it.Issaquah Notes:
Eeeeh! Ball spent a lot of time on the ground today. Not an extremely pretty game to watch.
A ton of errant passes and absent minded plays on Issaquah's part in the first half. Riders led 2-1 at half. Not much better in the 2nd, but John Harty managed to scoop a poor pass on the run, dodge and finish to tie the game at 2. Then midway through the 4th, Issaquah went man-up. The Port Angeles keeper made a big save though and it looked as if they would kill it off. But Issaquah retained possession and as the Rider's man was released from the box, the ball moved quickly behind the net and Harty hit Jordan Levy on the doorstep for the game winner.
A second half shutout for the purple and gold defense. Zach Grote made 14 saves and Dustin Cramer continues to impress. Chris Hutchinson also did a great job inbetween the restraining lines collecting 12 groundballs and clearing several times.
Chalk this one up in the 'ugly win' column. But a win is a win. Issaquah is now assured of hosting the Riders in a couple weeks come playoff time. |
