Team Summaries Issaquah Notes:
WOW!!! What a ball game! Playoff excitement at its best.

Issaquah came out very patient, poised and on fire. Matt Paige capitalized on a bit of a loose ball in tight on the crease to go up 1-0. The Issaquah scored 2 more within 30 seconds of each other to up 3-0 half way through the 1st. They almost took a 4-0 lead but Jon Matusiefsky's apparent goal was waived off 'in the crease'.

That seemed to be the break Port Angeles needed as a minute later they capitalized on some poor marking and Ryan Gray scored a breakaway. Gray would score two more in the period, the last on a man-up to tie the score 3-3 at the end of the 1st.

Teams settled in a bit in the 2nd and it was almost a scoreless period. Issaquah called timeout with under 30 seconds and set up a play. Franz Leenstra dodged and Port Angeles slid well, so Leenstra wisely banged the ball behind. The ball got knocked loose but John Harty came up with it and fired to score with 2 seconds left. 4-3 Issaquah at half!

Port Angeles scored early in the 3rd, another by Ryan Gray and then played very well man down. Issaquah couldn't make the extra pass and despite 3 man-up situations could not score in the 3rd. 4-4 after 3rd.

After killing a penalty early in the 4th, Issaquah looked to get back in sync. But Port Angeles forced a turnover and at the other end, Issaquah failed to step to the shooter. A simple step in and fire by Kyler Brumbaugh put the Riders up by one.

2 minutes later, Issaquah looked to settle. Keefe McEwan stripped John Harty though and Harty threw his stick in frustration behind the play. Result, man-up Port Angeles and they quickly capitalized. 6-4 Roughriders with 7 minutes to go.

With 5 minutes left, Harty drove and drew a flag. Issaquah had been 0-4 on man-up for the day. But this time they made the extra pass and Franz Leenstra ripped it upper corner.

The play was back and forth the next 4 minutes. Twice Issaquah tried to isolate and both times lost the ball. Zach Grote made a big save on one fast break and the defense knocked down the pass on the other. So, Issaquah still had a chance. Timeout Issaquah.

Under a minute to play. Harty had a shot to redeem himself. The crease stayed high enough to give him room. He came around and fired low. The sun didn't help the keeper and the game was tied with 34 seconds to play. Issaquah won the next face and actually had a chance to win in regulation, but the keeper made a big save and the game went to OT!

In overtime, Issaquah won the face and had first chance, but Port Angeles held tough and took it the other way. Dutin Cramer knocked it loose though and after a scramble, Ben Cohen flipped it to an attackman and Issaquah settled for another possession.

This time Nick Tierney took the ball behind. The Port Angeles defender overplayed and Tierney drove the pipe. The slide came, dish to Harty, second slide came, Harty side-stepped and fired. Ball Game!!!!

Great Ball Game!!!!

Port Angeles C Notes:
Just the kind of contest you want to see in a playoff game. Great play from both teams. Excellent officiating from James Bach and Ethan Hennessey. Exciting comebacks and overtime. Congratulations to Issaquah on a great win. Your patience at the end proved the difference. PA is proud to have had such a successful season. With 22 1st time players on the tean, 17 of whom are freshamn, the future is looking good. Good luck to Issaquah in the championship game.
