Game Summary	Defense and hustle were the keys to the successful Crunch season and they put forth their best effort in the AYB 6th Grade Championship Game Sunday afternoon with a 25 to 17 victory over the Guardians. Both teams entered the game with identical season records, 10 wins, one loss. A 2-3 zone defense forced the Guardians to shoot from the outside and allowed the Crunch to grab rebounds, Galen Evans (11), T’Aundre Smith (6), Matthew Conroy (4), Shane Taylor (4), Trevor Patrick (3) and Nicholas Solis (2). Ben Fetzer continued his pesky defense with two steals and Jake Swinderman had a fine all-around game with 4 points and a key block.

Guardians (Tanner) Notes: Teamwork, defense and rebounding this season for The Guardians was pivotal in puttng the team at #1 place in the regular season, including a win over identical record team, the Crunch. The playoff finals March 7th were a defensive battle that was close until the last few minutes when the Crunch pulled away in the low scoring 25-17 victory. The Guardians as a team had 30 rebounds spread across 7 players, and 9 steals and 5 assists. They were led by Ben Tanner with 6 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks and Julian Pelzner with 5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Danny Long pulled down 7 rebounds and Daniel McCormick had 4 rebounds and 4 steals. Eric Si and Matthew Mendoza together put in their best offensive games, scoring,assists and rebounding. Winning the regular season and making the finals were the results of hard work, team play and individual dedication.
