Buckleys Notes:
The score stayed close for most of the first half before a defensive lapse by Buckley's allowed Steelhead to jump out to a 4 goal lead just before half-time. Buckley's spent the third and fourth quarters clawing our way back into the game. The second half started with a 9-5 Steelhead lead, which Buckley's shave to a 11-8 lead going into the fourth quarter. Thanks to several strong defensive stands in the fourth quarter and outstanding goalie play by Bill McDonald, we were able to keep chipping away, scoring the tying goal with less than a minute remaining in regulation, sending the game into OT at 14-14.
Steelhead came out gunning, quickly going up 15-14 in the first OT, before Buckley's tied it again with 30 seconds remaining in the period.
Both teams had strong defensive stands by in the second OT, but Buckley's broke through with a minute to play, to go up 16-15. Steelhead then promptly won the face-off and tied it all up again, sending the game into sudden death.
The first sudden death period remained scoreless, before Steelhead finally put away the winning goal in the 4th OT. It was a disappointing result for us, but this was a classic battle. Thanks to Steelhead for the hospitality at the Jet, and we'll see you guys in a month!
