The last time Issaquah played at Skyline, a sophomore Ryan Benz scored the tying goal with 9 seconds left to force overtime in a game Skyline eventually won, its first ever victory over Issaquah. This night started with a similar feel in the JV game as sophomore Charlie Kurtenbach seemingly forced overtime for Skyline with just 10 seconds left. But, a tough procedure call on the next face-off gave Issaquah immediate possession and Jake Collins pushed right away scoring with 4 seconds left to give the JV squad a thrilling 13-12 victory. It was a prelude for a great Varsity game as well.

The final 12-5 count was nowhere near indicitive of how close this game was. The game was tied at half, 5-4 into the 4th quarter and 7-4 with 6 minutes to play.

The first quarter was well played on both ends by both teams. Each side was patient, each side had chances and both keepers were up to the task. Skyline broke the ice with just 1 second left in the quarter when a save rebounded to an eager attackman on the back doorstep who neatly finished.

Issaquah responded in the 2nd to take a lead but the game remained evely played and Skyline eventually tied it heading into half. Issaquah executed well, but Skyline's keeper stood tall and looked to be the difference.

Skyline scored first in the second half to take the lead back, but again Issaquah responded. Attackmen stepped up big on back to back sequences. First, Zach Fritz found Josh Bean at the back pipe to tie it. Shortly after, Ryan Egland finished himself on a quick dodge from the wing. This time Issaquah would not relinquish the lead.

Two huge goals early in the 4th gave Issaquah some breathing room. Again Fritz found someone open at the backpipe, this time it was Jake Lindahl. Mikey Giannopulus won the next faceoff and went right down the pipe but was stuffed by Kuberski. Skyline seemed to be headed back the other way, but a huge play from Conner Veitch won the ball back for Issaquah and he put the ball right back to Giannopulus for the finish. At the 6 minute mark, Skyline began to press out. Issaquah calmly handled the pressure and the double teams that began to come and ran away with it.

Game ball to Ryan Egland for his first career hat-trick!
