Marlins Notes: Extra inning thriller!Diamondbacks Notes: D-Backs Fall in 8
The Diamondbacks began the day looking like they were going to hit their way to a dominating win over the home Marlins, jumping out to an early 6-1 lead through 3 innings. The scoring began in the top of the 1st when Cartmenez (new nickname for Danny, previously Big Time) drew a 1-out walk, scoring on a double by Rope. Rope scored on a single by Twinkle Toe. The big hit of the inning came off the bat of Gold Glove; in the way of a 2-out single that scored two.
Gold Glove and Twinkle Toe added RBI hits in the top of the 3rd to make it 6-1. While the bats were firing early, Game Time pitched very well; limiting the Marlins to 3 runs (1 earned) over the course of 5 innings for a 6-3 lead.
The D-back bats fell silent in the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings, but added 2 what were thought to be insurance runs in the top of the 7th on headsy baserunning by Rope and Mr. Positive. The Marlins would not go quietly, rallying for 5 runs to tie the score at 8-8 after 7 regulation innings.
The 8th inning saw the D-backs fall oddly silent once again. The Marlins jumped at their chance to complete their comeback by plating 1 in the bottom of the inning for a 9-8 win.
