Diamondbacks Notes:
D-Backs Rally Deflated

The Diamondbacks fell behind early but eventually fought their way back into the game, before ultimately losing to the home Reds 16-6. The Reds batted around in the bottom of the 1st for an early 7-0 lead. T-Bird came in relief and limited the Reds to 2 runs over the next 3 innings.

The D-backs bats were silent until Twinkle Toe got the teams first hit in the top of the 4th inning. That was the only hit that the Red’s starting pitcher allowed. The D-backs cracked the Goose Egg in the 6th, rallying for 5 runs on 5 hits. Hits came from Game Time (an RBI double), Cartmenez, Deuce (a shot up the middle!), T-Bird and Rope.

The game was 11-5 heading into the bottom of the 6th. The Reds would not allow the D-Backs a chance to scrap a late game rally, adding 5 of their own in the bottom of the inning off shaky D-back defense for a 16-5 lead.

The D-backs refused to go by way of mercy rule, scrapping to find outs in order to bat in the top of the 7th. With 2-outs, 4 straight D-backs battled out walks. Gold Glove, Snow Man, Contact, and T-Bird all worked the pitcher for walks while facing 2 strike counts, 4 phenomenal at bats as described later by Coach B. That was the end of the rally.

Although down, the D-backs refused to settle silently and quit. GREAT Game Reds & Diamondbacks!
