Game Summary | The rematch of these two great teams was as exciting as the first contest. The Warriors opened the first period with nine unanswered points. Joe Rockwell came through with a personal best six for the day. Anthony Vargas-Pena kept defensive pressure throughout and scored two. Preston Choi helped the Warriors dominate under the boards, while Jack Neary and Josiah Lee kept the defensive pressure to a maximum. Benjamin Lai always seemed to be in the right spot for a clutch rebound. Vincent Garcia came off the bench to sink a key bucket in the final period. Luis Solares superior play-making always found the open man: and that open man was usually Esteban Lovato, with his season high nineteen points leading the Warriors to an exciting victory. The Gunners (www.vongillman.com) fell behind after the opening period but bounced back to lead 21-17 entering the final period, only to see it slip away. Alex Ingalls led the Gunners with 10 points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists, Satchel Fishers and Anthony Lee each chipped in with six points and great defense including two steals each, Mingus Knox-White dropped in five points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Gunners on the boards. Alton Zheng banked in two points and Cameron Putterman played great defense with two blocks and three steals to go with 10 rebounds and three assists. Omar Thaxter and Christopher McCarver each played solid defense and hustled throughout. |
