Game Summary | The Rainiers surged back to wrestle a tough contest away from the Devil Rays in the bottom of the sixth. This was a crisply played 95 minute classic in very cold conditions. The Rainiers scratched out one run against the Devil Rays' Michael Greenberg over the first three innings, who only pitched to ten batters. Excellent pitching by Ryan Schaeffer (3 IP, 5 SO, no runs) made the Rainiers 1-0 lead hold up through three innings. The Rainiers added one run in the fourth, for a 2-0 lead. A four run outburst by the Devil Rays in the top of the fifth was started by Mike Greenberg's double. Mitchell Anglin's hit in this inning drove in two runs, and the Rays led 4-2. A potential rally by the Rainiers in the bottom of the fifth was cut short by a fine center field catch of a very long fly ball by Alex ?? #7, stranding two runners. David Joseph-Goteiner pitched a fine 1-2-3 sixth for the Rainiers, needing only seven pitches. The Rainiers then brought three runs home in the bottom of the sixth inning to snatch the victory. Jack Levey had a good hit, and later showed good baserunning skills to cross the plate as the winning run. Hits were hard to come by for both teams, with excellent pitching and fielding, and extremely cold conditions. For the Devil Rays, Brandon ?? was 1-1 with a walk and a run scored, Nate ?? was 1-2, with a run and RBI and Mitchell Anglin had two RBIs. For the Rainiers Joey Demeter (2-2, 2 runs), Adam Simons (2-2, RBI) and Truman Braslaw (2 RBI) stood out. |
