| Team Summaries | Issaquah Notes: Issaquah 1-1-2-2-1- 7 Garfield 1-1-1-3-0- 6 What else would you expect and as a fan, what else could you ask for from these two? A phenomenal performance from a classy group of kids collectively on both sides. Despite Issaquah's best efforts to completely shut him off, Drew Snider still scored 4 times. He is certainly a level above the best in this league. Snider started the scoring, managing to slip away from the shut-off, dodge quickly from top center and ping the upper right corner on the run from 12 yards out. Alex Bates leveled the score midway through the quarter. In the 2nd quarter, Snider took the shut off to the crease. Caldwell Rohrbach drove from X and Snider was able to slip into space off the crease for a quick catch and finish. Travis Wright equalized 2 minutes later, dodging left and finding side net on an 8 yard lefty jump shot. The score was even at the half. Issaquah maintained a bit more of the possession, but Garfield got more shots on goal. Issaquah's defense found itself scrambling at times, confused in trying to keep Snider shut off. Garrett Johnson made several big saves to keep it tied. Issaquah took its first lead midway through the 3rd. After several good chances on net, Brendon Frye initiated and passed to Bates. Bates was stripped and Frye took advantage of the scramble situation in front, gobbled a loose ball and beat Jason Montoya. Two minutes later, Bates scored his second as he stepped up from below GLE, caught a feed from Travis Wright and stuck the lefty shot. However, Garfield got one back just 9 seconds later. Garfield won the face-off. Issaquah thought they had denied the quick fast break, but Rohrbach took the opportunity fired from outside over the traffic. Johnson never saw it and it went in just below the crossbar. 4-3 Issaquah headed to the 4th. Midway through the quarter, Garfield had possession and Issaquah forced the ball to the ground. A scramble ensued, Issaquah failed to win the ball, Snider picked it up on the high crease and rocketed it home to tie it. Issaquah took the lead right back just 40 seconds later as Wright dodged and found a cutting David Campi. Off the ensuing face-off, Andrew Morris won the groundball and pushed it hard to Nick Yaap. Yaap caught the ball moving and was able to curl past his defender to rip a lefty shot right by Montoya's ear. Issaquah had a 2 goal lead with under six minutes to play! But, Issaquah took a penalty and Gafield capitalized on the man-up. As the ball moved across the top, a late rotation allowed Snider time to catch and quickly dip past the late defender. He finished a lefty shot of his own. Issaquah maintained most of the possession for the next 2 minutes and called timeout with just over two to play. With less than a minute to go, Issaquah took a shot that would have iced it, but Montoya made the save and sent GArfield the other way. After a Garfield timeout, the Bulldogs looked to set up a pick roll. Having learned from the OT winner back in April, Issaquah did well to fight through it and stick to Snider. Issaquah seemed to have it shut down, but Danny Hoffman had just enough room to fire and it found the back of the net with 13 seconds left. On to overtime again... Garfield had the first chance in OT, but Issaquah knocked it to the ground and Mike Gerrard came up with a big gb and clear; timeout Issaquah. Issaquah got the look they wanted. Brendon Frye drove the right alley and was able to draw the adjacent defender. He fed Bates on the doorstep, but Montoya was able to slide acrosse the face of the goal and parry away the shot. Montoya won the race to the endline and Garfield had the ball back. Garfield's second chance on offense saw Rohrbach try to feed the crease, but another scramble ensued. Snider won it again, but this time Garfield was called for interference. Issaquah cleared and looked to set up the offense. Gabe DeBoer picked off Yaap's first pass and started the other way, but Yaap hustled, knocked it loose, won the gb and slipped to the ground. As he attempted to move the ball to a teammate, he was cross-checked/slashed on the ground and Garfield was penalized with 1:10 left. Yaap found himself open to the keeper's right but he fired a shot wide. On the restart, Jake Director passed it to Campi just below GLE. The defense didn't seem to shift at all so Campi crept up himself and wrapped a low lefty shot around Montoya that skipped into the upper corner. Players, fans and alumni stormed the field!
