| Game Summary | Trailing 12-2 in the second quarter, Team Xtreme rallied to beat the Sparks in overtime. Team Xtreme had a balanced scoring attack, with five players making baskets, including Maddy Lewis (10 points), Layla Stebbins (eight points), Remy McCon (four points), Gabby Obando (four points), and Keturah Hogan (two points). Jessica Cavalli had an outstanding defensive effort, with nine steals, six rebounds and one block. Sarrah Bagadi added a blocked shot at a crucial point in the fourth quarter. The Sparks took an early 12-point lead, beginning with a long 'almost-3-pointer' by Madison Willcox in the opening minutes. Putting on the press on defense, Christine Nguyen and Gracie Beireis kept Team Xtreme's offense quiet on the boards for the entire first half. Lively ball control and aggressive downcourt drives by Kwele Serrell and the rest of the Sparks offense helped hold the lead for the first two quarters. Exceptional efforts under the boards by Jayla Velasquez and Essence Hodge kept Team Xtreme in check until the ending minutes. |
