Game Summary | In a game matching speed against size, the faster team won as the Blobs completed an undefeated 12-0 season. The Blobs opened with a full-court press and forced the action the entire game. The Blobs pressure wore down the Ballers by the end of the game. The Blobs also shot the ball beautifully from the outside and played excellent team offense as seven players scored. All stars Jezeca Melgar, Michelle Griffin and Geena Serles led the balanced attack with 12 points each. All star Ananda Gebreyesus added seven points, Hillary Freeman five points, Hannah Bowman three points and Brittany Walker two points. Gabrielle Loparo and Alejandra Murillo played tough defense to contribute to the victory and the championship. The Ballers made several strong runs at the Blobs, but were never able to pull ahead. Destinee Martel capped a wonderful season with 29 points and excellent work on the boards. Mary Rhatigan again played well, scoring eight points and helping the Ballers break the Blobs’ press. Nashanta Williams scored five points and played her usual excellent game on the boards. Caylie Bahr and Vivian Lai played tough defense, blocking several shots, but the Ballers were unable to penetrate the Blobs’ defense consistently or match their shooting. |
