Team Summaries Pelicans Notes:
The twilight start of this game was a welcome respite with many of the Pels and Mets attending the previous night's 13 inning affair at the A's/Twins game.

Pelican starter Big League Chu had it going early - striking out the side in the first and setting the tone for the evening.

The Yellow Shirts knew that with a night game they couldn't count on the glare off their jerseys to help too much. Accordingly, they broke out the lumber early, plating 3 on a combination of well-placed singles in the first.

Chu went on to hold the Mets to a single run thru 6, his own strong pitching complimenting the solid defense behind him. BLC struck out 15 when all was said and done, including the side 3 times. Deuce Davis rang up 4 putouts in CF, and Twig made a great scoop at first base to quell a rally.

Davis also contributed with the bat, lining an RBI triple to the depths of Willard's center field. Elmer's double in the 6th gave the Pelicans what looked like an insurance run, but it turned into the game winning run quickly enough.

It all came down to the final inning. The Mets threw the heart of the lineup at BLC in the 7th... 3-4-5 due up and the Mets needing 2 to tie. The Pelican defense bent a little, allowing 1 run to score on a couple soft bloops. With 2 runners on base and still nobody out, Chu took matters into his own hands, striking out the side to end the game.

Congrats to both teams on a very well played game, and best of luck tomorrow.
