Pelicans Notes:
With many of the fans, coaches, players and umpires keeping half an eye and half an ear on the Sharks game, it was hard to remember that there was a vital game between two 2nd place teams at beautiful Witter field.

Pels' veteran Tika Taylor threw 3 fabulous innings to open things. Tika helped himself defensively, snagging a line drive through the box and turning it into a double play at first. Then he helped himself offensively, stroking an RBI double for a 1-0 lead.

The 4th inning saw the Pels melt down, though. A series of walks and fielders choices let the Reds score 9 in the frame.

The Pels gamely stayed in the game, and did come back to score a few runs in the final frame, but it was a case of too little too late.
