Team Summaries Pelicans Notes:
Some games just make a coach proud. Coming off 2 straight losses, including a heartbreaker the previous night against the rival Astros, nobody was sure which Pelicans team would show up Sunday morning. Would it be the wellmeaning, poorfielding Pels of the past 2 games, or the hardhitting, playforcing Pels of the first few games?

Elmer took the mound, with a new set of faces behind him including SheDevil making her initial appearance at first base. The Pels were clearly ready to play, with a fairly quick inning, including 2 groundouts that ended up in Sheila's solid glove. The RedSox did score one, but the Pels felt good. SpecialK got the run back in the bottom of the first, with an RBI single that plated Deuce.

Elmer held serve in the second and the Pels scratched out another run. A leadoff HBP and some timely groundouts turned into the goahead run.

SamS helped his own cause, scoring after crushing a leadoff double in the third, but the Pels answered in the bottom of the 4th with a 4run outburst featuring doubles by Elmer, BullDog, Gogo and Mario. BullDog's nearly went through the left field fence while Mario's hugged chalk all the way to the rightfield corner.

Deuce and Big League combined to nail a runner at second, and Big Easy held down third for most of the game. Scooter made a tremendous headfirst slide into third (remember kids - close your mouth when you go headfirst) and everyone was into it when Mario, caught rounding second, got into a rundown that must have forced 6 throws.

All in all, a team effort and a great way to cap the weekend.
